We’ll start with some Feng Shui “Don’ts” – things that will mess up the energy of your space.
In simple terms, Feng Shui is the art of altering your environment in order to balance your mind and spirit, therefore improving the positive energy flow in your home and workspace. Of course, there is much more to it; the Theory of the Five elements, the Cardinal Points, and the Chinese calendar are all taken into account by people who study Feng Shui. But don’t worry, you don’t have to dig into the specifics of Chinese metaphysics to make a significant, positive change in your daily life and your home. Many ideas here are somewhat obvious; having a clean, tidy space with sufficient sunlight, etc. However, you may be unaware of some things that little by little, will mess up the energy of your home. Let’s check them out.
1.-Leaving your outdoors unattended
Clean all debris, dead leaves and clutter on the pathway leading to your front door. Feng Shui teaches that the energy of the land is where your home stands, so a careless front lawn and a littered garden will screw up the energy flow. An inviting entrance to your home attracts new opportunities, so it’s important to keep this in mind if you want to prosper and redirect the energy flow into your home.
2.- Accumulating a lot of stuff
This one we are all a little guilty of-who wants to throw away an old beloved sweater your aunt gave you on Christmas, or that box full of pictures of you and your ex? – you get the point. The problem is that all that stuff hidden on drawers and closets represents stuck energy in our lives. It’s not that you have to give away all your belongings, but Feng Shui teaches us that we are connected to everything we have, so getting rid of unnecessary stuff will free up a lot of energy related to important aspects of our lives. Tip: A garage sale is a good idea to get rid of things you don’t need and making a quick buck. Of course, donating to charity pays off more.
3.- Having a TV in your bedroom
Do you really want to fill the place where you rest with unnecessary noise and negative vibrations? As if we were not bombarded with publicity and propaganda every day, all day! The last thing you want to do before you go to sleep is to stuff your head with endless commercials and ludicrous shows. Your sleep is very important to both your physical and mental health, and the electrical signal of a TV affects it more than you can imagine.
4.- Messy and dark spaces
In order to have a welcoming and comfortable environment, spaces must be kept clean, well-lit and with appropriate coloring and furniture. Dark hallways and rooms definitely reject positive energy so always try to have light- preferably sunlight- enter your home. Tip: Plants are an excellent way to bring life and positive vibes to any space, just remember to take care of them, since they represent life inside your home.
